Universal Electronics Inc. Expands UEI TIDE Family Portfolio with Enhanced Features and Capabilities

Universal Electronics Inc. (UEI), a leader in smart home technology, has unveiled its expanded UEI TIDE family portfolio, featuring exciting new capabilities that will be showcased at the upcoming International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas this January. Known for transforming climate control and energy management in smart homes, the UEI TIDE family now introduces new functionalities designed to elevate user experiences and provide greater control over home environments.

The expanded portfolio includes the UEI TIDE Dial, Touch, and Bridge, which come in various SKUs to meet diverse market needs. These new additions to the family bring significant advancements, with the UEI TIDE Dial (US24) and UEI TIDE Dial (EU24/EUUSB) models now supporting Zigbee Coordinator functionality. This upgrade enables the creation of a comprehensive energy management platform that integrates seamlessly with HVAC systems, energy insights, and the new QuickSet® homeSense technology for occupancy and presence detection. Universal Furthermore, the models now offer Matter support, ensuring compatibility with major smart home ecosystems.

Key Features of the UEI TIDE Dial

The enhanced capabilities of the UEI TIDE Dial, which now includes built-in Zigbee hub functionality, bring numerous benefits that improve its integration within smart home systems:

  1. Managed Network Formation: As a Zigbee coordinator, the UEI TIDE Dial can form and manage a Zigbee network, providing an affordable solution for users when no other hubs or ecosystems exist. This facilitates cost-effective climate control or home automation experiences in new installations.
  2. Device Integration: The UEI TIDE Dial can integrate effortlessly with a wide range of Zigbee-enabled devices, such as safety sensors, smart thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs), smart Universal shades, and plugs. The integration of these devices with IP-enabled smart home products creates a unified system that enhances home automation.
  3. Energy Management: Serving as a central hub, the UEI TIDE family can optimize energy usage, even without internet connectivity. The system can manage HVAC systems, adjust heating and cooling levels, and modify settings based on real-time data from connected devices, thereby promoting energy savings and improved efficiency.
  4. Energy Insights: The UEI TIDE Dial now delivers actionable energy insights directly Universal on the device, providing recommendations to enhance cost efficiency and comfort. This feature, when integrated with the household’s energy provider, enables users to visualize usage patterns and discover opportunities for optimization.
  5. Occupancy & Presence Detection: Powered by QuickSet® homeSense, this technology allows the thermostat to adapt to varying home environments and individual user habits. The system offers a personalized, scalable, privacy-first solution that works without requiring an app, making Universal it both user-friendly and secure.

Enhanced Climate Control for Every Home

A standout feature of the UEI TIDE family is its ability to manage both central and space heating/AC systems. This flexibility allows users to control hybrid systems that combine central and mini-split units from a single thermostat, even through infrared (IR) support. This integration simplifies whole-home climate management and enhances energy savings.

The UEI TIDE Dial and Touch models also support nevo.ai, an AI-powered agent that facilitates product onboarding, remote control, and provides tier-0 support, further boosting user convenience and control over the lifespan of the product.

The Future of Smart Home Technology: UEI TIDE PRO

UEI is also offering a sneak peek of its next-generation UEI TIDE PRO platform. This platform will feature an upgraded, high-resolution display, on-device AI processing, and support for Thread and Open Thread Border Router (OTBR). It will also include QuickSet 7 support and a built-in Matter Controller with Multi-Admin capabilities, allowing users to integrate multiple smart home systems under one roof. Moreover, UEI’s advanced software framework for the platform will support the development of operating systems and graphical user interfaces, all while maintaining a limited power budget.

Arsham Hatambeiki, Senior Vice President of Products and Technology at UEI, expressed his excitement, stating, “We are thrilled to expand our UEI TIDE family portfolio with new capabilities that not only enhance climate control and energy management but also address key challenges by providing actionable insights on-device.
