Gopuff Launches Nationwide SNAP EBT Acceptance as First Instant Commerce Platform

Gopuff Becomes First Instant Commerce Platform to Accept SNAP EBT Nationwide

Gopuff, a leader in Instant Commerce, has announced it is now accepting Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) payments for eligible online purchases across the U.S. As the first Instant Commerce platform to gain USDA approval for SNAP payments, Gopuff is extending convenience, affordability, and improved access to groceries for millions of SNAP-eligible Americans.

“For more than a decade, we have been bringing high-quality, affordable food and pantry staples to customers in minutes,” said Yakir Gola, Gopuff’s co-CEO and co-founder. “We’re honored to now offer SNAP-eligible families access to the groceries they need in the fastest and most affordable way possible.”

Gopuff’s approval to accept SNAP payments spans hundreds of its micro-fulfillment centers and stores, allowing the company to bring essential groceries to even more households. Senator John Fetterman commended the initiative, noting that it will “help people in food deserts access healthy, nutritious food and modernize SNAP delivery to meet today’s needs.”

For many SNAP recipients, online grocery access is a necessity rather than a luxury. One in five SNAP recipients has a disability, many serve as primary caregivers, and numerous others live in food deserts with limited transportation options, making it challenging to access fresh food. With the capacity to deliver groceries within 15 minutes, Gopuff’s Fresh Grocery initiative—which recently added hundreds of fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy, and poultry items—has already proven vital in food deserts. During pilot testing, popular items among SNAP-eligible Gopuff customers included baby formula, bananas, orange juice, and milk.

Gopuff partnered with Forage, a USDA-approved third-party payment processor, to integrate SNAP EBT payments seamlessly into its app. The process is simple:

  1. Download the Gopuff app (available for iOS and Android)
  2. Add an EBT card as a payment method
  3. Purchase eligible food items with SNAP benefits

Gopuff also allows customers to check their EBT balance at checkout and combine payment methods for non-SNAP items. Orders are prepared in local micro-fulfillment centers and delivered by partners within minutes.

This SNAP expansion aligns with Gopuff’s ongoing commitment to addressing food insecurity. Since 2019, Gopuff has worked with Feeding America to support local food banks and has donated nearly 2 million pounds of food across the U.S. The company recently joined the White House Challenge to End Hunger, furthering its initiatives to reduce food insecurity, including donating food and resources to areas impacted by natural disasters, such as recent hurricane relief efforts in Florida.

Amid rising living costs, Gopuff is also expanding its private label offerings to bring affordable, high-quality products to more customers. Its FAM membership program now features lower-than-retail prices on essentials, helping members save an average of $25 per month.
