Since 1998, Walmart customers have relied on the convenience of Neighborhood Markets to meet their needs. These smaller stores offer a stellar assortment of products, creating a community-focused shopping experience. This core principle remains unchanged.
Walmart recently committed to opening or converting over 150 stores in the next five years, with the Neighborhood Market format set to benefit significantly. As part of this initiative, two new stores have just opened: one in the Dune Lakes area of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, and another in the Vine City neighborhood of Atlanta.
These stores are not only new or remodeled but also bigger. With 57,000 square feet of sales floor and space for pickup and delivery, the Dune Lakes and Vine City stores are about 17,000 square feet larger than the average Neighborhood Market. This expanded space enhances our focus on value, speed, and convenience.
Here’s what these changes mean for our stores:
Value
The larger layout allows us to offer a broader assortment throughout the store. Customers will notice significant improvements in our Fresh departments, with more options in bakery, produce, meat, and dairy. The expanded service deli will also offer more hot case options. We work hard to maintain price leadership, ensuring customers get their items at the Everyday Low Price they expect from Walmart, whether they’re shopping for last-minute necessities or family meals.
Speed
The updated stores feature wider aisles, providing customers more room to shop and making navigation easier. Our goal is to help customers find what they need quickly and easily, whether they choose to shop in-store or online. We’ve also allocated more space for pickup and delivery orders, including dedicated areas for refrigerated goods, allowing associates to fulfill orders even faster.
Convenience
Neighborhood Markets are often central to the communities they serve, providing groceries, household essentials, financial, and pharmacy services. The two new stores include a Health Services Room in their pharmacies, offering privacy for vaccinations and consultations. Additionally, the inclusion of a Mother’s Room allows nursing moms to shop comfortably while caring for their little ones.
Walmart+ members will enjoy additional conveniences, such as free delivery from the store, free shipping from Walmart.com, fuel discounts, video streaming with Paramount+, and more. With Walmart+ Assist, customers receiving qualifying government assistance can access all the benefits of Walmart+ at half the price.
