Rite Aid Corporation Appoints Matt Schroeder as Chief Executive Officer

Rite Aid Corporation (“Rite Aid” or the “Company”) has announced that Matt Schroeder has been named Chief Executive Officer after the company’s successful emergence from Chapter 11. Schroeder, who has been with Rite Aid since 2000 and most recently held the position of Chief Financial Officer, will succeed Jeffrey S. Stein, who steps down as CEO and Chief Restructuring Officer following the company’s restructuring.

“Matt has demonstrated strong leadership throughout his tenure at Rite Aid, especially during the Chapter 11 process. His deep understanding of the company’s operations makes him the ideal leader as Rite Aid moves forward,” said Bruce Bodaken, Chair of Rite Aid’s Board of Directors during its restructuring.

Schroeder expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, stating, “I am honored to lead Rite Aid as we continue to serve our customers and communities. With the dedication of our entire team, we are entering a new chapter as a transformed company. I see tremendous potential for Rite Aid, and I look forward to working with our team to help customers achieve whole health for life.”

Former CEO Jeffrey Stein commented on the transition, saying, “It has been a privilege to lead Rite Aid through this critical time. I am proud of what we’ve achieved in strengthening the company and am confident in Matt’s leadership as he takes on this role.”

Bodaken added, “I extend my gratitude to Jeff for his commitment and leadership throughout the restructuring process. His vision and hard work over the past 11 months have positioned Rite Aid for future success.”
