
Walmart Inc. (NYSE: WMT) has announced the appointment of Bob Moritz, the retired Chairperson of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), to its Board of Directors, effective immediately. Moritz becomes the 12th member of Walmart’s Board and will serve on both the Audit Committee and the Technology and eCommerce Committee.
“As a people-led, tech-powered, omnichannel retailer dedicated to helping people save money and live better, having strategic leaders like Bob on our Board is crucial as we define the future of retail,” said Greg Penner, Chairman of Walmart’s Board of Directors. “With his extensive experience at PwC, Bob’s strategic, global perspective and governance expertise make him an ideal addition to help guide us on our continued journey toward excellence.”
Tom Horton, Walmart’s Lead Independent Director, added, “Bob brings a wealth of global business experience to our Board. His international leadership experience and deep financial expertise across industries and regions of the world will be invaluable. Moritz retired from PwC in June 2024 after a 39-year career with the firm, where he held various leadership roles, including U.S. Chairman and Senior Partner, and most recently served as the Global Chair. He joined PwC in 1985, became a partner in 1995, and has a background in audit and assurance, primarily focused on financial services, banking, and capital markets clients. Moritz also spent three years with PwC Japan, working with European and U.S.-based financial services companies operating in Asia. Prior to his global role, he led PwC’s U.S. firm as Chairman and Senior Partner for seven years.
In addition to his leadership roles at PwC, Moritz has been active in philanthropic efforts, serving on the board of Generation Unlimited and as a Member of the World Economic Forum’s International Business Council. He is also a current board member of the State University of New York at Oswego Foundation.
