Modon & Montage Launch Ultra-Luxury Resort in Ras El Hekma, Egypt

Abu Dhabi-based Modon Holding partners with Montage Hotels & Resorts to introduce Egypt’s first Montage-branded residences and a 200-room luxury resort on the Mediterranean coast.

Abu Dhabi-based Modon Holding and luxury hospitality brand Montage Hotels & Resorts have officially announced the launch of Montage Ras El Hekma, an ultra-luxury resort and branded residential development located on Egypt’s stunning Mediterranean coastline. The landmark project marks Montage’s first entry into Egypt and represents a significant milestone in the transformation of Ras El Hekma into one of the world’s most ambitious coastal destinations for tourism, hospitality, investment, and modern living.

The announcement highlights the growing global interest in Egypt’s North Coast, particularly Ras El Hekma, which is rapidly emerging as a premier destination designed to combine luxury tourism, upscale residential communities, entertainment, and international business opportunities. Positioned along one of the Mediterranean’s most scenic coastlines, Montage Ras El Hekma is expected to become a defining symbol of sophisticated beachfront living and world-class hospitality in the region.

The resort itself will feature approximately 200 luxury guest rooms and suites, carefully designed to reflect Montage’s signature approach to understated elegance, privacy, and personalized service. Alongside the hotel component, the development will also introduce 96 exclusive Montage-branded residences, offering affluent buyers a rare opportunity to own premium real estate within one of the most prestigious new destinations in the Middle East and North Africa.

These branded residences are designed to provide a seamless blend of private ownership and luxury resort living. Owners will enjoy access to a full range of five-star services and amenities while maintaining the privacy and exclusivity expected from a high-end residential environment. The residences will be located within Wadi Yemm, the first neighborhood to enter the development phase within the broader Ras El Hekma master plan.

Montage Residences Ras El Hekma will include a collection of ultra-luxury villas ranging from three to six bedrooms. Each villa has been thoughtfully designed to maximize natural light, spacious living, and strong connections to the surrounding coastal environment. The architectural concept focuses heavily on integrating indoor and outdoor spaces, allowing residents to fully embrace the Mediterranean lifestyle. Many of the villas will offer uninterrupted sea views, while select residences will also overlook a championship golf course, creating a unique dual-view living experience rarely found in luxury coastal developments.

The overall resort experience will be centered around wellness, leisure, and community engagement. Residents and guests will have access to private beachfront lagoons, high-end recreational facilities, and an expansive Montage Spa featuring 13 treatment rooms dedicated to wellness and relaxation. The resort will also include six dining venues showcasing a diverse culinary offering, from fine dining experiences to relaxed beachfront restaurants and cafes.

In addition to hospitality and wellness facilities, Montage Ras El Hekma will feature luxury retail outlets, family-focused entertainment spaces, and extensive event venues designed to host cultural, corporate, and social gatherings. Expansive lawns, landscaped terraces, and outdoor gathering areas will further enhance the destination’s appeal as a vibrant social hub for the wider Ras El Hekma community.

A private owners’ club will provide residents with exclusive lifestyle services and personalized experiences, reinforcing the project’s emphasis on discretion, convenience, and elite living. Importantly, the collection of branded residences is expected to remain highly limited, with no future phases currently planned. This exclusivity significantly enhances the long-term value and desirability of the properties.

Speaking about the collaboration, Bill O’Regan emphasized that Montage Hotels & Resorts has built an international reputation for delivering refined luxury experiences tailored to high-net-worth travelers and property owners. He explained that the brand’s commitment to authenticity and thoughtful integration with local environments aligns closely with Modon’s broader vision for Ras El Hekma as a destination defined by quality, innovation, and long-term sustainable value.

The partnership between Modon and Montage is expected to extend beyond this single development. Montage Ras El Hekma serves as the beginning of a broader strategic relationship that could potentially lead to future luxury hospitality projects across other Modon destinations in the years ahead.

For Montage International, the Egyptian project represents a major expansion of its global luxury hospitality portfolio. Alan J. Fuerstman described the launch as a significant milestone in the company’s international growth strategy. He noted that Ras El Hekma presents a unique opportunity to create a luxury destination where sophisticated architecture, cultural richness, and natural beauty come together to redefine Mediterranean luxury living.

Montage’s existing portfolio currently includes ultra-luxury resorts and residences across the United States and Mexico, while future developments are also planned in destinations such as the Bahamas, Punta Mita, and Valle de Guadalupe. The Egypt launch therefore positions Ras El Hekma among an elite collection of globally recognized luxury hospitality destinations.

The broader Ras El Hekma master plan itself is one of the largest and most ambitious urban development projects currently underway in the region. Spanning approximately 170.8 million square meters and carrying an estimated development value of US$35 billion, the project aims to completely transform Egypt’s northern coastline into a modern international city focused on tourism, investment, commerce, and quality of life.

The development is projected to attract nearly US$110 billion in investments by 2045, reflecting both domestic and international confidence in Egypt’s long-term economic and tourism growth potential. Upon completion, Ras El Hekma is expected to contribute roughly US$25 billion annually to Egypt’s GDP while generating approximately 750,000 jobs across various sectors, including construction, hospitality, transportation, retail, entertainment, and professional services.

Wadi Yemm, the first neighborhood under development, will act as the foundation for the larger vision of Ras El Hekma. In addition to luxury residences and hospitality projects, the area will include several major cultural landmarks intended to shape the city’s identity and global appeal. Among these are the iconic Ras El Hekma Lighthouse and a massive amphitheater capable of hosting up to 10,000 visitors for concerts, cultural performances, festivals, and entertainment events throughout the year.

Accessibility is another major pillar of the master plan. Ras El Hekma is strategically positioned to provide easy access by land, sea, and air, placing nearly half of the world’s population within a four-hour flight radius. The destination will eventually feature a new international airport integrated with high-speed rail systems, major highways, marinas, and a dedicated cruise terminal, ensuring seamless connectivity for tourists, investors, and residents alike.

Stretching across approximately 44 kilometers of Mediterranean coastline, Ras El Hekma is envisioned as a fully integrated coastal city offering year-round lifestyle experiences rather than functioning solely as a seasonal tourism destination. Plans include residential communities, educational institutions, commercial districts, hospitality hubs, entertainment zones, and mixed-use developments designed to create a thriving and sustainable urban ecosystem.

At the center of the city will be a major commercial and financial district intended to support business activity and international investment. Combined with leisure attractions, luxury resorts, cultural destinations, and waterfront developments, Ras El Hekma aims to position itself as one of the Mediterranean’s leading luxury lifestyle and economic centers over the coming decades.

The launch of Montage Ras El Hekma therefore represents far more than the opening of a luxury resort. It symbolizes the beginning of a transformative era for Egypt’s Mediterranean coast, introducing a new standard of luxury hospitality, branded residential living, and large-scale urban development that could reshape regional tourism and investment for generations to come.
