Today marks the return of Square 50 for its second year, celebrating businesses worldwide that have achieved significant milestones in their operations. This year, Square 50 introduces a new initiative, inviting nominations from customers, fans, community members, and businesses themselves to identify the top 50 businesses of the year.
Nominations are now open until July 18 across five distinct categories:
- Innovation: Recognizing businesses that lead their industries through groundbreaking innovations, whether in product diversification or operational transformations.
- Growth: Highlighting businesses that have achieved remarkable expansion, whether through new locations, increased revenue streams, or international market penetration.
- Community: Acknowledging businesses that enrich their local communities through charitable contributions, diversity initiatives, inclusive environments, and ethical practices.
- Experience: Showcasing businesses that redefine customer experiences, setting new standards for service excellence and customer engagement.
- Sustainability: Honoring businesses committed to sustainable practices, promoting environmental responsibility, and contributing to social and cultural advancement.
For over 15 years, Square has been a trusted partner in empowering businesses to thrive, leveraging its extensive experience to identify and spotlight the next generation of impactful businesses globally.
Last year’s Square 50 recipients have continued to build on their success stories. For instance, Fishbowl, a healthy fast-food chain from Australia, expanded internationally with its debut in the U.S. as Thisbowl in Spring 2024. Similarly, Broad Street Oyster Company expanded its footprint with new locations in Southern California and San Francisco, while Savanna Boda Aesthetics and The Laya Center made significant strides in their respective industries.
Selected Square 50 honorees will benefit from enhanced visibility across Square’s platforms, establishing credibility as standout businesses endorsed by Square. Winners will also receive exclusive Square prizes to commemorate their achievements and amplify their success. Additionally, all applicants will be considered for future marketing collaborations with Square, offering further opportunities for exposure.
Winners will be chosen based on their exceptional achievements across the aforementioned categories. Nominations are currently being accepted here until July 18, with honorees scheduled for announcement later this year.
