Brenmiller Commences Construction of bGen™ ZERO System at Tempo’s Beverage Manufacturing Facility

A prominent global provider of thermal energy storage (“TES”) solutions for industrial and utility sectors, Brenmiller, has announced the initiation of the construction phase at Tempo Beverages Ltd.’s (“Tempo”) beverage production facility in Netanya, Israel. The company plans to commence on-site assembly by the end of September 2024. Brenmiller’s initiative involves replacing Tempo’s fossil fuel boilers with a 32 MWh bGen™ TES system, offering sustainable process heat through an Energy as a Service (EaaS) model. Tempo, partially owned by Heineken International B.V., stands as one of Israel’s major beverage producers, supplying renowned brands like Heineken and Pepsi.

Brenmiller’s bGen™ TES system for Tempo will harness a blend of rooftop solar and ultra-low-cost off-peak grid power for charging. The system’s configuration aims to precisely match the beverage manufacturer’s operational requirements, with the final design anticipated for completion by July 2024. Procurement of essential components for Tempo’s bGen™ system has commenced, with all manufacturing slated for completion at Brenmiller’s TES gigafactory in Dimona, Israel. System assembly is projected to finalize by the end of 2024, with commissioning scheduled for May 2025.

Avi Brenmiller, Chairman and CEO of Brenmiller, expressed satisfaction with the progress, stating, “We are pleased to report that our project to replace Tempo’s polluting heavy oil boilers with our bGen™ thermal battery is progressing according to schedule and is on-track to be commissioned less than a year from now.” He highlighted the significance of this endeavor within the food and beverage industry, noting its potential to serve as a model for similar ventures. Brenmiller has observed robust demand from this sector, with approximately 15% of its project pipeline, valued at over $500 million, attributed to food and beverage manufacturers. The Dimona gigafactory boasts production capacity to support potential sales of up to $200 million, reaffirming Brenmiller’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
