Dino Polska Reviews Q1 2024 Business Performance

In Q1 2024, Dino Group’s revenue reached PLN 6.7 billion, marking a 20.3% increase compared to Q1 2023. By the end of March 2024, the network expanded to 2,438 stores, an increase of 228 stores from the previous year. Capital expenditures for the firm’s development totaled PLN 330 million. The headcount at Dino Group rose to 42.4 thousand employees.

During Q1, Dino opened 32 new stores, bringing the total number to 2,438 by the end of March 2024. These stores, marked by Dino’s distinctive red logo, are designed with a uniform format and convenient locations to facilitate daily grocery shopping for consumers.

As of March 2024, the total selling area in Dino stores was 960.9 thousand square meters, reflecting a 10.5% increase from the previous year. Most of Dino Polska’s capital expenditures, which amounted to PLN 330 million in Q1 2024, were allocated to network and logistics base development, showing a 6% increase over the previous year. Over the past five years, Dino Group’s cumulative capital expenditure has exceeded PLN 6 billion.

The Q1 2024 revenue of PLN 6.7 billion included 41% from fresh product sales, particularly fruits, vegetables, bread, and fresh meat produced by the Agro Rydzyna meat processing plant. Fresh products are delivered to Dino stores every morning.

The like-for-like (LfL) sales growth rate for stores operational for at least one year was 11.9% in Q1 2024, driven by an increase in customer numbers and higher purchase volumes per visit.

“Every day we focus on ensuring that the offering in Dino stores satisfies consumer needs in a convenient and comprehensive manner. At the same time, we attach a lot of attention to offering products at attractive prices. The outcome of these efforts is robust sales growth and a higher number of customer visits. This motivates us to continue the network’s rapid development,” says Michał Krauze, Management Board of Dino Polska.

Photovoltaic (PV) installations have become a standard feature in newly opened Dino stores, providing clean electricity. By the end of Q1 2024, 91% of Dino’s stores (2,210 stores) were equipped with PV installations. Additionally, three of the Group’s distribution centers operate with renewable energy sources, with a total capacity of 88.2 MW. In Q1 2024, Dino Polska sourced 10.4 GWh of solar power, a 37.4% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
