Pottery Barn, a leading brand in the Williams-Sonoma, Inc. (NYSE: WSM) portfolio, has announced the launch of an innovative collection of accessible home furnishings created in collaboration with Michael Graves Design. Renowned for their expertise in accessible design, Michael Graves Design worked with Pottery Barn to develop a new range of bedroom and upholstery designs aimed at enhancing safety and accessibility in the home.
The ‘Michael Graves Design for Pottery Barn’ collection was shaped by comprehensive ethnographic research conducted by Michael Graves Design, focusing on the needs of adults aging in place and individuals with disabilities. The research informed the creation of prototypes that were tested by a diverse group of users to ensure optimal functionality and appeal.
Monica Bhargava, President of Pottery Barn, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration: “Combining Pottery Barn’s design excellence with Michael Graves Design’s expertise in accessible design has resulted in a collection that blends beauty with functionality. This partnership reflects our commitment to enhancing the lives of consumers who need accessible solutions without compromising on style.”
Donald Strum, President of Michael Graves Design, emphasized the impact of the partnership: “This collaboration with Pottery Barn allows us to bring purposeful and aesthetically pleasing furniture to a broader audience. Together, we’re setting new standards for accessible design.”
The collection includes a range of items designed to cater to various needs, including those of people aging in place, individuals with disabilities, and anyone seeking a more accessible living environment. Key pieces from the collection include:
