Woolworths is strengthening its partnership with OzHarvest to combat hunger across Australia by donating 10 cents from each sale of Woolworths High Fibre Sliced Sandwich Bread products to the food relief charity.
This initiative aims to help OzHarvest distribute more meals to Australians in need. This support builds on Woolworths’ long-standing partnership with OzHarvest, which has provided over 75 million meals since 2014.
Shoppers in-store and online nationwide will see a yellow OzHarvest banner on the packaging of three varieties of the Woolworths High Fibre Sliced Bread range, which includes:
- Woolworths Wholemeal Sandwich Hi-fibre Bread 700g
- Woolworths Multigrain Sandwich Hi-fibre Bread 700g
- Woolworths White Sandwich Hi-fibre Bread 700g
Laura Glendinning, OzHarvest Joint Head of Impact, emphasized the importance of the partnership, stating, “There has never been a more important time to support our cause, and we’re so grateful for our wonderful national partnership with Woolworths. We are seeing record levels of people seeking our services, so every cent counts.”
OzHarvest highlights that bread is one of the most wasted foods in Australia. To help reduce waste, Woolworths has developed storage tips and creative recipes for using leftover bread throughout the week.
Guy Brent, Managing Director of Woolworths Food Company, noted, “Sliced bread is a staple in many Australian households. The Woolworths High Fibre Bread range has grown in popularity, especially the High Fibre Wholemeal product, which offers a healthier choice for customers. This initiative is a great opportunity to raise more funds for OzHarvest, helping them provide more resources to local communities in need.”
The funds raised will support the costs of drivers, vans, warehouses, cool rooms, freezers, and more, ensuring that fresh, healthy surplus food reaches as many Australians in need as possible.
