Vallarta Supermarkets Collaborates with GreenStruxure® to Implement Onsite Renewable Energy Microgrid

Vallarta Supermarkets has announced a new partnership with GreenStruxure, a leading energy-as-a-service provider, to design, build, operate, and maintain an onsite renewable energy microgrid. This initiative aims to deliver clean energy that will provide 60% of the power needed for the Vallarta store located at 2690 E. Vineyard Ave, Oxnard, CA 93036. The project is expected to help Vallarta Supermarkets significantly reduce energy costs from the first year of operation while mitigating the effects of rising utility prices. Furthermore, it will decrease the supermarket’s carbon emissions by 60%, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability.

Joel Silva, CFO of Vallarta Supermarkets, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “By partnering with GreenStruxure, Vallarta Supermarkets is taking significant steps towards sustainability and reducing our environmental footprint. We look forward to offering this service to additional locations in the future.”

GreenStruxure will utilize solar panels, battery storage, and advanced energy management systems to create a clean, reliable, and affordable energy supply. This innovative microgrid solution will enable Vallarta Supermarkets to achieve zero carbon energy, manage peak demand, optimize energy use from both the grid and onsite systems, and gain comprehensive performance insights through its AI platform, BeyondtheGrid®.

Immediate Financial Benefits

From the first year of operation, Vallarta Supermarkets anticipates substantial energy cost savings. This microgrid solution will provide protection against increasing utility rates, allowing the supermarket greater control over energy expenses and insulating its operations from market volatility. This strategic move is expected to enhance the supermarket’s financial performance, enabling it to better serve its customers.

A Model for Sustainable Transition

The collaboration illustrates how Vallarta Supermarkets can leverage clean energy to avoid significant costs while reducing its carbon footprint. This project serves as a valuable model for other mid-sized companies and supermarkets aiming to decrease energy expenses and environmental impact through affordable, clean energy solutions.

GreenStruxure CEO Jose Lorenzo Lista remarked, “We are thrilled to partner with Vallarta Supermarkets in their transition to clean energy. Our onsite microgrid supplies clean, reliable, affordable energy and optimizes energy costs to deliver the best outcomes. We believe this partnership will inspire other mid-sized companies to embrace clean and affordable energy.”

The partnership includes plans for deploying microgrids at additional supermarket sites, further enhancing Vallarta Supermarkets’ capacity to offer competitive prices to its customers.
