UNIQLO recently announced a significant partnership with the Singapore National Paralympic Council (SNPC), marking its official role as the Clothing Partner for the Singapore Paralympics team. This collaboration entails UNIQLO providing its renowned LifeWear apparel to Singapore’s athletes and officials during the upcoming major summer sports event in France. The apparel range will cover attire for key moments such as the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as for use in the athlete village and during travel throughout the Games.
This milestone marks UNIQLO’s debut in supplying apparel for a national team in Southeast Asia. The attire for Singapore’s 2024 Summer Games contingent will predominantly feature LifeWear pieces readily available at UNIQLO outlets. SNPC’s selection of LifeWear stems from its appreciation of the collection’s straightforward designs, superior quality, and practical functionality, aligning well with its inclusive “made for all” ethos. They believe this choice best represents and respects the diverse backgrounds of Singapore’s athletes competing on the global stage.
Yuki Yamada, Group Executive Officer of Fast Retailing and CEO of UNIQLO Singapore, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to support Singapore’s athletes and officials. He emphasized the shared values between UNIQLO’s LifeWear philosophy and the Paralympic spirit, highlighting a commitment to excellence, continuous improvement, and the celebration of human resilience. Yamada also pledged collaboration with the athletes to inspire future generations, innovate LifeWear designs, and contribute positively to society.
Dr. Teo-Koh Sock Miang, President of the Singapore National Paralympic Council, echoed appreciation for UNIQLO’s backing, emphasizing its role in enhancing the athletes’ performance and presence in Paris. She eagerly anticipates leveraging this partnership to foster a vibrant future through the convergence of sports and apparel, aiming to make a meaningful impact on both fronts.
FUNCTIONALITY AND COMFORT DEFINE LIFEWEAR
UNIQLO, in collaboration with SNPC, has meticulously crafted a range of LifeWear apparel prioritizing functionality and comfort. The collection showcases modern, sophisticated designs that not only embody Singapore’s identity but also seamlessly integrate with Paris’s urban landscape.
To pay homage to Singapore’s national colors, vibrant red accents adorn accessories and linings. Thoughtful touches of Singaporean motifs like the orchid and the Lion Head symbol grace items such as women’s scarves and men’s ties, complemented by a color palette of red, white, and blue symbolizing both Singapore and France.
For travel and leisure, para-athletes can rely on UNIQLO’s renowned AIRism and Dry-EX fabrics. These materials ensure they stay cool and comfortable across various environments, activities, and temperatures.
UNIQLO’S DEDICATION TO DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION
In addition to outfitting the team, UNIQLO is committed to community engagement alongside SNPC and the athletes.
Participating in the inaugural Singapore Paralympic Fiesta at Our Tampines Hub from May 4th to 7th, 2024, UNIQLO Singapore will mobilize a team of over 100 staff and family members for the Walkathon, demonstrating its support for Singapore’s Para Athletes.
Aligned with UNIQLO’s Next Generation Development Program, aimed at inspiring youth through sports, the brand will collaborate with SNPC on school outreach efforts. Through initiatives like UNIQLO Access, they will raise awareness about diversity, inclusion, and disability rights. Together, UNIQLO, SNPC, and the athletes will contribute to a brighter future through the transformative power of sports and apparel.
This partnership serves as a catalyst for UNIQLO’s continued pursuit of quality, innovation, and sustainability.
