Tim McOsker, Los Angeles Councilman, Chosen as Chair of the Alameda Corridor Transportation Authority

Tim McOsker, a Los Angeles Councilmember, has been elected as Chair of the Governing Board of the Alameda Corridor Transportation Authority (ACTA) for the 2024-25 term. Serving alongside him, Long Beach Councilwoman Suely Saro will take on the role of Vice Chair. The leadership positions on the Governing Board traditionally alternate annually between representatives from the Los Angeles and Long Beach city councils.

“The Alameda Corridor plays a pivotal role in facilitating U.S. rail cargo movement, crucially supporting the operations of the Los Angeles and Long Beach Port Complex,” remarked Councilmember McOsker. “With advancements in intermodal and on-dock rail infrastructure, the Corridor remains central to the global supply chain, enhancing speed and efficiency.”

Elected in 2022 to represent Los Angeles City Council District 15, encompassing Harbor City, Harbor Gateway, San Pedro, Watts, Wilmington, and the Port of Los Angeles, Tim McOsker brings a background as an attorney and lifelong resident. Formerly CEO of AltaSea, a nonprofit fostering ocean sustainability and economic growth at the Port of Los Angeles, McOsker continues to advocate for community health and safety benefits through ACTA’s initiatives.

ACTA, an intergovernmental agency empowered by the cities of Los Angeles and Long Beach, oversees the dedicated rail corridor from the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach to downtown Los Angeles. The $2+ billion project consolidated multiple rail routes into a single, grade-separated corridor along Alameda Street, significantly improving local conditions. By prioritizing rail over truck transportation, the Corridor reduces freeway congestion, promotes economic growth, lowers greenhouse gas emissions, and enhances overall safety.
