Thunderbird and tokidoki Unveil Exclusive Mermicorno Collectible at San Diego Comic-Con 2025
A Magical Plush Debuts at Comic-Con
Thunderbird Distribution and Thunderbird Brands, the distribution and consumer products divisions of Thunderbird Entertainment Group Inc., are teaming up with the global lifestyle brand tokidoki to launch a highly anticipated limited-edition collectible: the Mermicorno: Starfall 12″ Powered Up Astra Collector Edition plush.
This vibrant and exclusive collector’s item, produced by leading toy partner Jazwares, will debut at San Diego Comic-Con 2025 (SDCC), running from July 24–27, 2025. Priced at $30 USD, the plush will be sold only at the Jazwares booth (#3513) while supplies last. With its striking design and connection to the animated series Mermicorno: Starfall, the plush is expected to be a fan-favorite at the convention.
Meet the Creator: Simone Legno Appearance
Adding to the excitement, Simone Legno, tokidoki’s co-founder and the creative force behind the Mermicorno universe, will be making a special appearance at SDCC. Fans will have the rare opportunity to meet Legno in person and get a free Mermicorno poster signed at the Jazwares booth during select signing sessions.
This personal interaction with the creator is expected to draw both longtime tokidoki collectors and new fans introduced through Mermicorno: Starfall, the franchise’s first full-length animated series.
More Collectibles from Trusted Partners
The Mermicorno experience at Comic-Con won’t stop at plush toys. At Abrams Books’ booth (#1216), fans can purchase the official Mermicorno: Starfall sticker book for $14.99 USD. The beautifully illustrated sticker book is perfect for collectors and young viewers who want to immerse themselves further in the Mermicorno world. Abrams will also be handing out free Mermicorno sticker sheets, giving Comic-Con attendees a fun way to take home a piece of the magic.
“We are so excited for the fans of tokidoki and Mermicorno: Starfall to have the opportunity to meet creator and artist Simone Legno and see all the amazing new collectibles from our partner toy company Jazwares at San Diego Comic-Con,” said Richard Goldsmith, President of Global Distribution & Consumer Products at Thunderbird.
“We are so proud to see the Mermicorno universe expand beyond the screen with such incredible partners,” added Pooneh Mohajer, tokidoki’s CEO and Co-Founder. “From Jazwares’ beautifully crafted Astra plush to Abrams Books’ whimsical sticker book, these special items let fans dive deeper into the world of Mermicorno: Starfall. San Diego Comic-Con is the perfect venue to celebrate these creative collaborations.”
From Character to Screen: The Rise of Mermicorno: Starfall
The Mermicorno: Starfall animated series was developed by Thunderbird’s Atomic Cartoons in collaboration with tokidoki. The series brings tokidoki’s beloved Mermicorno characters to life for the first time in animated form. Set in a stunning underwater world, the show follows a courageous team of magical sea creatures as they battle an evil threat to their ocean home.
Combining themes of adventure, friendship, environmental awareness, and even a quest for the best bowl of ramen, the series celebrates creativity and community. Its tone is bright, comedic, and emotionally resonant, appealing to both children and nostalgic adult fans of tokidoki’s signature art style.
Since its debut, Mermicorno: Starfall has gained widespread popularity. It launched in the U.S. on Max in January 2025, where it quickly climbed to #11 in the Kids & Family category. The show has since expanded to audiences across the globe, airing on:
- YTV and STACKTV’s Teletoon+ in Canada
- Discovery Kids and Max in Latin America
- POP in the United Kingdom
- Cartoon Network in Southeast Asia
Following the strong reception of the first episodes, a second batch of episodes was released on Max in May 2025, further growing the series’ dedicated fanbase.
Global Reach and Digital Expansion
Thunderbird Distribution has continued to build on the success of Mermicorno: Starfall by forging broadcast and licensing partnerships in new international markets. Earlier this year, it was announced that ejunior, a popular children’s entertainment network in the Middle East, had secured rights to the series in the region.
In addition to its presence on television, Mermicorno: Starfall has expanded into digital gaming, with the launch of a Roblox game created in collaboration with Space Junk Studios. The game offers fans an interactive extension of the series’ world, giving players the chance to explore the Mermicorno universe in a fully immersive format.
