The Knot Worldwide Announces Leadership Transition: Raina Moskowitz to Become CEO
The Knot Worldwide, a global leader in celebrations and marketplace services, has named Raina Moskowitz as its new President and CEO, effective January 21, 2025. Moskowitz, currently the Chief Operating and Marketing Officer of Etsy, will succeed Tim Chi, the company’s founder and CEO, who will transition to Vice Chair of the Board of Directors.
Moskowitz brings a wealth of experience, having played a key role in Etsy’s strategic growth over the past seven years. As COO and CMO at Etsy, she led global operations, marketing, international expansion, customer support, and trust and safety teams. Moskowitz was instrumental in scaling Etsy’s operations, enhancing brand loyalty, and growing its user base, which now includes over 90 million buyers and 6 million entrepreneurs worldwide.
“I’m thrilled to be joining a leading marketplace that powers celebrations worldwide and plays a key role in life’s most meaningful moments,” Moskowitz said. Her appointment marks the beginning of a new chapter for The Knot Worldwide, which serves over 45 million people globally and operates in 16 countries. The company’s diverse brands, including The Knot, WeddingWire, and The Bump, connect millions of engaged couples and small businesses annually.
Tim Chi founded WeddingWire in 2005, inspired by his own wedding planning experience. Under his leadership, WeddingWire grew into a global platform, expanding into North America, Europe, South America, and India. The merger of XO Group Inc. and WeddingWire in 2019 led to the formation of The Knot Worldwide, with Chi at the helm as CEO. In his farewell message, Chi expressed deep gratitude for the team’s hard work and for the success the company has achieved, including a record revenue forecast for 2024. He noted that stepping down as CEO was a difficult decision, but he is confident that Moskowitz’s experience in scaling marketplaces will drive The Knot Worldwide’s next phase of growth.
“Raina’s tenacity, vision, and deep experience in building scaled marketplaces will successfully guide The Knot through this next chapter of growth,” said Chi. He also expressed his continued commitment to the company and its mission, staying on as Vice Chair of the Board.
Moskowitz’s leadership is expected to further strengthen The Knot Worldwide’s position as a global leader in celebration planning and e-commerce. Her vision for the future includes a focus on connecting consumers with local businesses and enhancing the celebration experience through innovation. “In a world of increasing automation and isolation, bringing people together to celebrate milestones is more important than ever,” Moskowitz stated.
Before her tenure at Etsy, Moskowitz spent 13 years at American Express, where she held senior roles in strategy, product development, and marketing. She is also a board member of Sprout Social and Tech:NYC, contributing to the growth of tech ecosystems in the U.S. Moskowitz holds a degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and resides in Brooklyn, New York, with her family.
