The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. (NYSE: EL) (“ELC” or “the Company”) has announced the appointment of Rashida La Lande as Executive Vice President and General Counsel, effective August 19, 2024. Ms. La Lande will report jointly to William P. Lauder, Executive Chairman, and Fabrizio Freda, President and Chief Executive Officer. She will also become a member of the Company’s Executive Leadership Team.
In her new role, Ms. La Lande will oversee ELC’s global Legal organization, serving as a strategic advisor to the company and its Board of Directors on complex global legal matters and business strategies. She will lead the company’s legal strategy, practices, and policies worldwide, and will also be responsible for the Global Privacy Office and Global Security Team. Additionally, Ms. La Lande will collaborate with leadership and business units on various legal issues, including corporate strategies, compliance, governance, risk mitigation, and business transactions. She will also manage the legal review of potential acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures.
Ms. La Lande brings over 25 years of experience advising corporations and representing companies and private equity sponsors in industries such as consumer products, retail, financial services, and technology. Prior to joining ELC, she served at The Kraft Heinz Company, where she held progressively responsible roles, most recently as Executive Vice President and Global Chief Legal and Corporate Affairs Officer. During her tenure, she led the legal function and was responsible for corporate governance, securities, transactions, regulatory matters, intellectual property, litigation, labor and employment, as well as the company’s Environmental Social and Governance activities and Global Government Affairs function.
Before Kraft Heinz, Ms. La Lande was a partner at the law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, where she practiced from 2000 to 2018. She began her legal career at Chadbourne & Parke LLP.
Ms. La Lande holds a Bachelor of Arts in African American Studies from Harvard University and a Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School in New York City.
