Target Collaborates with Shopify to Boost Third-Party Digital Marketplace

American discount retailer Target has unveiled a new collaboration with the global commerce platform Shopify aimed at enhancing its third-party digital marketplace, Target Plus.

This partnership is geared towards expanding the selection available to consumers by integrating products from Shopify’s diverse network of merchants, which includes popular brands like True Classic and Caden Lane. The initiative promises to offer a wide array of products known for their affordability, quality, and alignment with current trends.

Notably, Target will also pioneer the introduction of selected Shopify merchants’ products into its physical stores, marking a significant step in broadening its retail offering and giving shoppers access to new brands.

Shopify merchants based in the United States can now apply to sell on Target Plus through Marketplace Connect, an application designed to facilitate selling and order management across various marketplaces, including Target Plus. This integration aims to simplify the process for merchants to connect with Target’s extensive customer base.

Cara Sylvester, Target’s executive vice president and chief guest experience officer, highlighted the benefits of Target Plus, emphasizing that it allows consumers to explore a curated selection of trusted products with confidence. She expressed excitement about the partnership with Shopify, which enriches Target’s lineup with thoughtfully designed and competitively priced items that appeal to their customer base.

Target Plus, initially launched in 2019, currently features a diverse portfolio of over two million products from more than 1,200 partners. Brands such as Ruggable, Maui Jim, Crocs, and Timberland are among the well-known names already showcased on the platform.

In a recent development, Target announced price reductions on 5,000 frequently purchased products in May 2024, reinforcing its commitment to providing value to customers.
