Southeastern Grocers, the parent company of Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie, has pledged $550,000 to Folds of Honor, supporting 110 educational scholarships for children and spouses of fallen and disabled military members.
This significant contribution was made possible through the generosity of customers and associates who participated in SEG’s seventh annual community donation program at Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie stores. During Memorial Day weekend, SEG’s charitable arm, the SEG Gives Foundation, matched donations dollar for dollar, effectively doubling the impact of every contribution.
Anthony Hucker, President and CEO of Southeastern Grocers, expressed deep gratitude for the ongoing support shown by associates and customers towards military communities. He emphasized the profound impact these contributions have on families in need, underscoring the solidarity Southeastern Grocers shares with organizations like Folds of Honor.
Since 2018, SEG has donated over $8 million to Folds of Honor, facilitating more than 1,600 educational scholarships. Lt. Col. Dan Rooney, CEO and Founder of Folds of Honor, lauded Southeastern Grocers and its community for their unwavering commitment to military families, highlighting the essential role such support plays in honoring the legacies of fallen and disabled service members.
Proceeds from SEG’s community donation program directly benefit Folds of Honor’s mission to provide educational scholarships covering tuition from K-12 through to post-graduate studies. This initiative has significantly impacted over 52,000 families since its inception in 2007.
