
Sony Interactive Entertainment Unveils PlayStation 5 Pro: The Pinnacle of Visual Excellence in Gaming
Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) has introduced the PlayStation®5 Pro (PS5® Pro), the newest addition to the PlayStation®5 (PS5®) lineup. Officially launching on November 7, 2024, the PS5 Pro is set to redefine gaming with its cutting-edge technology, delivering unparalleled image clarity, high frame rates, and advanced ray tracing. Priced at $699.99 USD, £699.99 GBP, €799.99 EUR, and ¥119,980 JPY (including tax), the console comes with a 2TB solid-state drive and a DualSense wireless controller. It will also support the latest wireless standard, Wi-Fi 7, in applicable regions.
Elevating the Gaming Experience
The PS5 Pro is designed to offer game developers enhanced capabilities to create exceptional gaming experiences. Key features include:
- Enhanced GPU: Boasting 67% more Compute Units and 28% faster memory than the standard PS5, enabling up to 45% faster rendering and smoother gameplay.
- Advanced Ray Tracing: Delivering more dynamic and realistic light effects at over twice the speed of the current PS5.
- AI-Driven Upscaling: Utilizing PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution to provide sharp, detailed images through advanced machine learning technology.

Seamless Integration and Enhanced Features
The PS5 Pro maintains a design consistent with the PlayStation 5 family and offers an optional Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive (sold separately). Games that benefit from the PS5 Pro’s features will carry a “PS5 Pro Enhanced” label. Titles such as Alan Wake 2, Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will showcase these enhancements.
The PS5 Pro will fully support games from the current PS5 and incorporate a PS5 Pro Game Boost feature to improve performance for over 8,500 backward-compatible PlayStation®4 (PS4®) games. Additionally, existing PS5 accessories, including PlayStation®VR2, DualSense Edge™ wireless controller, and Pulse Elite™ wireless headset, will be compatible with the PS5 Pro.
