On Wednesday, April 22, Okay Affligem reopens with a fresh new look after undergoing extensive renovations. The 600 m² local supermarket now boasts the latest features found in Okay stores, including a Collect&Go collection point, an updated bread corner, a refurbished freshmart, additional cooling cabinets, and a revamped checkout area. These improvements aim to enhance the shopping experience at Okay Affligem, with a focus on sustainability throughout the renovation process. Store manager Jannick Vastenavondt and his team eagerly await the return of their customers.
Focus on Freshness and Convenience
The modern design of Okay Affligem makes it easy for customers to navigate the diverse range of fresh products. “In the freshmart, wide aisles ensure a pleasant shopping experience, with ample choices of fruit, vegetables, dairy, meat, charcuterie, fish, and ready-made meals, all as tasty and fresh as you’re used to at Okay,” says Jannick. Additional cooling cabinets have been installed outside the freshmart, offering an extensive selection of meat, fish, and vegetarian appetizers.
Okay Affligem also features a renewed bread corner where quality bread, breakfast rolls, and buns are freshly baked on-site and neatly displayed. “The checkout area has been overhauled to ensure smoother and faster payments,” adds Jannick. Starting May 22, customers can conveniently pick up their Collect&Go orders at the store.
Environmental Considerations
Okay Affligem is committed to sustainability, aligning with other Colruyt Group store formats. The store operates without gas or fuel oil, and its eco-friendly cooling system emits 90% less CO2 than traditional installations. Heat released by the cooling and ventilation system is recovered to heat the store, while rainwater is collected to replenish soil water and relieve the sewer system.
Convenient Access
Located along a connecting road, Okay Affligem is easily accessible by car and bicycle. The spacious car park accommodates 50 vehicles, and cargo bikes can be securely stored in the bicycle shed.
The renovations at Okay Affligem aim to provide customers with a more enjoyable and efficient shopping experience while minimizing the store’s environmental footprint.
