RECODE 2050 Fashion Show puts Taiwan’s sustainable textile innovations in the spotlight.

RECODE 2050 Fashion Show puts Taiwan’s sustainable textile innovations in the spotlight.

In the face of global supply chain restructuring and increasing sustainability demands, Taiwan’s textile industry continues to thrive with its proven formula: Innovation × Design × Sustainability. During the Taipei Innovative Textile Application Show (TITAS) 2025, the Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF), as part of the Textile Export Promotion Program (TEPP), presented the RECODE 2050 Fashion Showcase, highlighting Taiwan’s forward-looking strengths on the world stage.

With over 100 influential international and domestic brands, buyers, and media representatives in attendance, the event served not only as a fashion show but also as a platform for strategic dialogue between Taiwan’s textile ecosystem and global markets. Nineteen manufacturers collaborated with six designer labels to present 48 looks that combined sustainable materials, circular craftsmanship, and functional design. The show brought Taiwan’s sustainability vision for 2050 to life while demonstrating integrated competitiveness “from polymer to garment” for markets in the US, Europe, Japan, and other regions.

Taiwan Leads in Green Innovation and High-Tech Manufacturing.
As the global fashion industry faces increasing regulatory pressure regarding CO₂ reduction, traceability, recycling systems, and circular economy requirements, Taiwan’s complete supply chain, from pre-production to final manufacturing, is becoming a crucial advantage. The 19 participating companies reflected this industrial depth, including:

  • Li Peng (Libolon) – a leading company in the vertical integration of polymers to fabrics;
  • New Wide – a specialist in circular knitting innovations for over 40 years;
  • SINGTEX – creators of the world-renowned Coffee Yarn concept;
  • SABRINA – a first-class manufacturer of performance apparel at Olympic level.

As part of TEPP, another international fashion show is planned for 2026 to further highlight Taiwan’s leadership in sustainability.

Trusted by global sports brands and the world’s biggest events,
Taiwan is a key supplier for Nike, Adidas, Lululemon, Under Armour, The North Face, and numerous other global brands – over 70% of their high-performance, sustainable fabrics originate in Taiwan. The industry also plays a central role in international sporting events such as the Olympic Games and FIFA tournaments.

At the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Taiwanese companies transformed marine waste into high-performance fibers and, using space-saving weaving techniques, developed next-generation kits worn by nine national teams. This success continued at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the UEFA Champions League, where 16 teams chose performance fabrics “Made in Taiwan.” For the 2024 Paris Olympics, Taiwan supplied ultralight, breathable, and moisture-wicking fabrics for national basketball training kits; ocean-recycled yarns were also used in tennis apparel for the Australian Open.

With the 2026 FIFA World Cup in mind, Taiwan will once again play a key technological role behind the scenes. Materials such as Far Eastern New Century ‘s recycled ocean plastic polyester and Li Peng’s eco-friendly recycled Libolon fabrics have already been selected by global brands. Taiwan’s growing portfolio of sustainable, functional, and smart textiles will continue to support the world’s best athletes.
