PayPal launches a “Buy now, pay later” offer in Canada with no fees
PayPal today announced the launch of PayPal 4-Way Pay , a no-fee, no-interest buy-now-pay-later payment solution for Canadians. Starting this month, Canadian shoppers can take advantage of a more flexible payment option with millions of brands from here and abroad specializing in consumer goods, travel, and lifestyle products, just in time for Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Boxing Day sales.
Consumers can now optimize their budget with PayPal’s 4-Payment solution at their favorite brands, such as Knix, Samsonite, Silk & Snow, The Home Depot Canada, Ticketmaster and many more.
The PayPal Holiday Spending Survey 2025 demonstrates strong consumer interest in this area: 60% of respondents who haven’t yet used deferred payment say they would be more inclined to do so if it were free. PayPal’s Pay in 4 offers more flexibility at checkout, allowing eligible purchases of $30 to $1,500 to be split into four equal, interest-free installments over a six-week period. Automatic payments help keep track of spending with various payment methods, including debit, credit, and bank withdrawal. Those who wish to pay in advance can do so through the PayPal app or online.
A smart way to shop, just in time for the holidays.
With PayPal Pay in 4, there are no late fees, no sign-up fees, and no hidden costs; just predictable payments that make holiday shopping less stressful and easier to manage. Purchases eligible for PayPal Pay in 4 are covered by PayPal Purchase Protection , which provides peace of mind when shopping online in case items aren’t delivered or don’t match their description. As Canada’s leading online payments brand , PayPal continues to offer secure and convenient solutions that meet the needs of consumers and businesses.
“PayPal has been serving Canadians for over 15 years and is one of the most trusted brands across the country. Pay in 4 helps meet the demand for transparent and reliable solutions. This program helps people manage their spending without late fees or hidden costs,” said Michelle Gill, Managing Director, Small Business and Financial Services at PayPal. “Businesses also benefit, as those offering PayPal’s deferred payment options increase their conversion rates and sales—both critical during the busy holiday season.”
Better for consumers… and for businesses
For businesses of all sizes, a “Buy Now, Pay Later” program is no longer just a perk; it’s what shoppers expect. PayPal’s deferred payment option boosts conversion rates thanks to its very high acceptance rate among consumers who request it (90% globally) 4 . Furthermore, it increases sales, as the average order value is 80% higher. By offering PayPal’s deferred payment solution and highlighting it early in the checkout process, businesses can reduce cart abandonment and increase conversion rates, especially during peak periods.
