Ryan Rogers, Chief Executive Officer of Mary Kay and the grandson of the company’s founder, Mary Kay Ash, expressed his confidence in Dr. Gildea’s leadership. “With her expertise in science and beauty innovation and her customer-centric approach, Lucy will lead a strategic chapter of our transformation into the future. Since joining Mary Kay in 2017, Dr. Gildea has been instrumental in modernizing the company and enhancing its competitiveness. Her focus on product innovation and organizational efficiency has driven significant advancements within the company. Prior to her tenure at Mary Kay, Dr. Gildea spent 15 years at Procter & Gamble, where she specialized in beauty technology and skin product development. Her extensive experience includes leading development teams focused on upstream technology and measurement sciences across the healthcare, beauty, and personal care industries. During her time at P&G, Dr. Gildea also gained valuable international experience while living in Singapore.

Dr. Gildea shared her enthusiasm for her new role, stating, “Mary Kay was founded on a dream to enrich women’s lives with a product portfolio rooted in science. Dr. Gildea’s academic background is as impressive as her professional career. She earned a Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology, Immunology, and Infectious Diseases from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. She also completed a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Immunology through a joint appointment with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and the University of Cincinnati Department of Immunology. Additionally, she holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Georgetown College in Georgetown, Kentucky.

Beyond her professional achievements, Dr. Gildea is a passionate advocate for STEM education, particularly for women and girls. She serves as a Board Member at Baylor Scott & White Dallas Foundation and as a Board Advisor at Baylor Scott & White Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center. Her dedication to advancing STEM opportunities underscores her commitment to empowering the next generation of female leaders in science and technology.
