
Loblaw Companies Limited Releases 2023 ESG Report Highlighting Major Achievements
Loblaw Companies Limited (TSX:L, “Loblaw”) unveiled its 2023 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) report today, detailing significant milestones and progress driven by the company’s mission to help Canadians Live Life Well® through combating climate change and promoting social equity.

Key 2023 Achievements:
- Addressing Food Waste and Insecurity: Diverted over 78,000 metric tonnes of food from landfills and donated nearly 47 million pounds of food to charities through the Feed More Families™ program.
- Fighting Climate Change: Reduced carbon emissions by 11% from a 2020 baseline and invested nearly $44 million in 490 carbon reduction initiatives.
- Promoting a Cleaner Environment: Converted almost two-thirds of control brand plastic packaging to be 100% recyclable or reusable by 2025.
- Nurturing Future Generations: Fed over 990,000 children through the President’s Choice Children’s Charity.
- Improving Access to Care: Operated 70 pharmacy care clinics, filled 169.2 million prescriptions, administered 2.1 million flu shots, and donated 14 million period products.
- Supporting Health Equity for Women: The Shoppers Foundation for Women’s Health contributed over $11 million to 370 women’s health organizations.
- Making Meaningful Contributions: Raised and donated a record $180 million to various research initiatives, charities, and non-profits across Canada.
- Representation: Increased women in executive roles to 46% and management roles to 39%, and raised representation of visible minorities in management to 32% and in executive roles to 28%.
- Ensuring Diversity and Inclusion: Trained over 166,000 colleagues on DEI topics, with over 3 million training courses completed.
