The LYCRA Company, a global leader in the development of innovative and sustainable fiber and technology solutions for the apparel industry, announced today that it will showcase its bio-based LYCRA® EcoMade fiber at ISPO from December 3 to 5. The company will present samples of the renewable elastane at Hall A3, Stand 101, and offer visitors an immersive VR experience to learn more about the product. It will also be featured at the Sustainability Hub (Hall A2), with a dedicated presentation.
“We believe the bio-based LYCRA® EcoMade fiber represents an exciting future, where we can drive true, transformative change in the industry without compromising performance,” said Steve Stewart, Chief Brand and Innovation Officer at The LYCRA Company.
The bio-based LYCRA® EcoMade fiber has already received recognition, winning two ISPO Textrends Awards for the Fall/Winter 2026/27 season. In the Fibrers and Insulation category, the renewable elastane received a “Top 5 Award,” and a garment made from the fabric was selected as “Selection” in the Pants & Tights category. Brazilian activewear and swimwear brand LIVE! produced the fabric and leggings using early samples of this highly anticipated fiber.
Set to launch in 2025, the bio-based LYCRA® EcoMade fiber will be the first commercially available, mass-produced renewable elastane. The award-winning product, presented at ISPO, is made from 70% renewable raw materials and is certified under the USDA Bio-Preferred Program. The fiber delivers performance equivalent to the original LYCRA® fiber, with no changes needed to fabrics, processes, or patterns.
“We are excited about the recognition from ISPO and congratulate our customer LIVE! for developing the award-winning fabric and garment,” Stewart said. “We believe the bio-based LYCRA® EcoMade fiber has the potential to create significant, positive change in the industry while maintaining high-performance standards.”
LIVE! is renowned for its high-quality, sustainable apparel. The UpFit Capsule Collection includes the award-winning leggings, Bermuda-length leggings, a top, and a jumpsuit. These garments made from the bio-based LYCRA® EcoMade fiber provide exceptional comfort, fit, and flexibility, with the added benefit of being made from a more sustainable fiber.
“At LIVE!, we believe that the future of fashion must balance innovation with ecological responsibility,” said Joice Sens, founder and creative director of LIVE!. “This collection embodies the spirit of LIVE! FUTURE, our sustainable innovation lab, and highlights the importance of partnerships like the one with LYCRA® that enable us to develop products combining cutting-edge technology with low environmental impact.”
On December 4 at 4:00 PM CET, Steve Stewart will present a talk titled “All In: The Power of Partnership” on the Green Stage at ISPO. In his presentation, he will discuss the crucial role collaboration has played in the development and commercialization of the bio-based LYCRA® EcoMade fiber.
