An Exemplar of Sustainability, Inspiring Customers
On May 24th, Bio-Planet opened its 37th store in Belgium, located in Gembloux. This expansion aims to make organic and ecological products more accessible, encouraging customers to adopt more sustainable consumption habits while ensuring they receive high-quality products in well-designed stores.
Situated on the former Match store site, the new Bio-Planet Gembloux is perfect for those seeking organic and eco-friendly products. This is the second Bio-Planet store launched after Colruyt Group acquired Match, Smatch, and Louis Delhaize stores. The store offers a diverse range of organic fruits and vegetables, fresh bread, meat, cheese, and charcuterie. Additionally, it provides a variety of veggie, vegan, and gluten-free products. Store manager Manuel Barro and his enthusiastic team are ready to welcome customers to the new 1,026 m² shop.
Focus on Sustainability
Bio-Planet emphasizes providing high-quality products in environmentally friendly stores. From the moment customers enter, they are greeted with a story of sustainability, highlighted by new baskets made from recycled polypropylene derived from plastic waste and ocean fishing nets.
With the Gembloux opening, Bio-Planet expands its plant range, including both seasonal and permanent indoor and outdoor plants. These plants are grown without chemical pesticides and use peat-free substrates and plastic-free packaging.
“Conventionally grown plants are often less sustainable than you might think. At Bio-Planet, we have made a conscious choice to offer sustainable plants that not only beautify your terrace and purify your living space, but also give the environment a helping hand,” says Luc De Bruyne, plant and flower buyer.
A Genuine and Good Store
The store has also heavily invested in bulk and unpackaged products. Customers can find bulk fruits, vegetables, mixed nuts, cereals, and dried fruits, serving themselves in jars or containers either provided by Bio-Planet or brought from home.
The bulk section includes a variety of sweet and savory snacks, such as raspberries, chocolate, and mendiants. Additionally, customers can choose from three varieties of bulk coffee beans from Nicaragua, Ethiopia, and Colombia. This initiative aims to reduce unnecessary packaging and promote packaging-free consumption.
Bio-Planet Gembloux features a new health and beauty corner, offering an extensive range of skincare and cosmetics products. For those in need of last-minute gifts, the store provides gift baskets filled with quality products, accompanied by flowers and gift cards.
Online shopping is also supported. Customers can book their organic groceries via Collect&Go and pick them up from Bio-Planet Gembloux.
