Worldly, the leading supply chain sustainability data and insights platform for the consumer goods and apparel industries, has announced that Pia Heidenmark Cook, the esteemed former Chief Sustainability Officer at IKEA, will be the keynote speaker at its inaugural Worldly Customer Forum. The event will be held on September 12 at the Hilton Munich Park in Munich, Germany, immediately following the Annual Meeting hosted by Cascale (formerly the Sustainable Apparel Coalition), a global nonprofit alliance for the consumer goods industry.
Pia Heidenmark Cook expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity, stating, “This chance to connect brands and manufacturers is crucial for advancing meaningful sustainability initiatives. By fostering collaboration and understanding between these groups, we can make a significant impact.”
The Worldly Customer Forum will offer a day of inspiring stories, practical insights, and valuable networking opportunities, aimed at bringing together corporate sustainability leaders and practitioners to drive progress towards a sustainable future. The agenda features a combination of keynote speeches and interactive workshops designed to translate ideas into actionable steps. This event is especially timely as the industry addresses the challenge of decarbonizing supply chains and prepares for new regulations like the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), which will mandate social and environmental impact reporting starting in January.
Pia Heidenmark Cook’s keynote will set the stage for the forum, motivating the 200+ attendees from the apparel and consumer goods sectors. Her address will highlight the importance of their efforts, aligning with the forum’s theme, “Impact in Action.” Pia will address the challenges of sustainability, focusing on actionable progress as the industry aims to reduce its environmental footprint in line with the Paris Agreement.
Scott Raskin, CEO of Worldly, remarked, “Pia’s leadership and extensive experience in sustainability make her the ideal person to inspire and challenge our community. Her insights will help push the boundaries of what’s possible in our collective journey toward a more sustainable future.”
During her tenure at IKEA, Pia Heidenmark Cook was instrumental in embedding sustainability into the company’s core strategy. She led initiatives that included achieving 14% business growth alongside a 14% reduction in climate footprint, advancing IKEA’s goal to become climate positive by 2030, significantly increasing the use of renewable and recycled materials, and promoting sustainable living among customers globally. Pia is recognized as one of the leading figures in sustainability and has received numerous accolades for her contributions.
“I’m thrilled to participate in Worldly’s Customer Forum and share my experiences with a community that is deeply committed to sustainability,” said Pia Heidenmark Cook. “This forum is a valuable opportunity to connect brands and manufacturers and drive impactful sustainability initiatives.
