DirectDefense Shows Robust Growth in the First Half of 2024

DirectDefense, a leading information security services company, has reported notable growth across key sectors for the first half of 2024. This strong momentum is attributed to strategic leadership, valuable industry partnerships, and innovative research, setting the stage for a dynamic second half of the year.

The company has bolstered its leadership team with the appointment of Kevin Brooks as the new Vice President of Finance. Kevin, previously VP of Finance at Bishop Fox, brings extensive experience in finance management and growth strategies. At Bishop Fox, he was instrumental in scaling operations across five countries, resulting in over threefold revenue growth. His expertise in accounting, tax, treasury, and fundraising will be crucial in guiding DirectDefense’s financial strategy.

DirectDefense has also expanded its industry partnerships, notably integrating Abnormal Security’s AI-powered email protection into its managed security services program. This integration enhances the company’s ability to detect and counter sophisticated email threats, offering enhanced protection for enterprises. In June, DirectDefense announced a new collaboration with Dragos, combining their managed security services with Dragos’s advanced OT cybersecurity solutions. This partnership aims to deliver superior threat intelligence, comprehensive visibility, and reduced missed alerts for organizations in the industrial control systems (ICS) sector.

Innovation remains at the core of DirectDefense’s success. Security researcher Nolen Johnson discovered two exploits on the Pixel Tablet Dock that enable the execution of custom OS or unsigned code, opening avenues for further security research. These findings have implications for multiple Nest devices, underscoring the importance of proactive security measures.

Jim Broome, president and CTO of DirectDefense, commented, “Our team of highly skilled professionals is committed to staying ahead of cybersecurity threats. We continuously learn, adapt, and expand our expertise to address emerging challenges and ensure our clients are protected. Our achievements in the first half of 2024 highlight our strategic growth and dedication to customer security. It’s exciting to be recognized within our industry for our ongoing commitment.”

In the first half of the year, DirectDefense earned several industry accolades. For the second consecutive year, the company was ranked #481 on CRN’s Solution Provider 500 list. It also maintained its position on CRN’s Managed Service Provider (MSP) 500 list in the Security 100 category for the fourth year running. Additionally, Hannah Godwin and Kerri Holland were recognized in CRN’s Women of the Channel list for 2024, honoring their exceptional leadership and contributions to the channel community.
