CP Extra Teams Up with Department of Internal Trade to Boost Thai Farmers, Drive Seasonal Fruit Sales, Targets 2,900 Million Baht in 2024 Procurements

Makro and Lotus, part of CP Extra Public Company Limited, are standing by Thai farmers by purchasing over 65 million kilograms of Thai fruit this year, valued at more than 2,900 million baht. These fruits will be sold through more than 2,600 Makro and Lotus branches nationwide, aiming to encourage fruit consumption throughout the season and bolstering purchasing power.

Mr. Somnuek Yoddamnoen, Director of the Fresh Food Product Management Department at CP Extra Public Company Limited, expressed the company’s commitment to supporting farmers across the country by selecting fresh, quality produce directly from farmers and delivering it to consumers. With the recent arrival of the fruit season, Makro-Lotus, in collaboration with the Department of Internal Trade Ministry of Commerce, is purchasing over 65 million kilograms of Thai fruits. This includes Eastern fruits such as mangosteen, rambutan, longkong, sala, and durian, totaling more than 3 million kilograms, a significant increase of 98% from last year. This initiative aims to reinforce the source of fresh food and raw materials for all customer groups, fostering sustainable income for farmers and driving the local economy.

Mr. Kan Vititpaphathamrong, Assistant Director of the Fresh Food-Fruits Purchasing Department at Lotus, emphasized the company’s commitment to working alongside Thai farmers to help them continue supplying their produce to the market. Lotus-Makro aims to encourage Thai people to consume high-quality fruits at fair prices, including rambutan, mangosteen, sala, longkong, and durian. Additionally, Lotus has organized a durian buffet activity at 16 Lotus Hypermarket branches nationwide throughout the month of May, offering ripe Monthong durians and other Thai fruits for only 599 baht per person.

The event was graced by Mr. Wattanasak Sueaiam, Director-General of the Department of Internal Trade, who presided over the opening and visited the fruit sale in the Eastern Region. Representatives from CP Extra Public Company Limited, including Mrs. Siriporn Dechasingh, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Corporate Communications Division, Mr. Somnuk Yoddamnoen, and Mr. Kan Vititpaphathamrong, along with the management team, welcomed attendees at Makro Chaengwattana.
