Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) has announced that Prime Day 2024 set new records, becoming the biggest Prime Day shopping event ever with unprecedented sales and the highest number of items sold over the two-day period. Prime members worldwide enjoyed billions in savings across a broad range of categories.
The 48-hour event saw a significant increase in participation compared to Prime Day 2023, driven by Amazon’s competitive pricing and a surge in new Prime memberships leading up to the event. Shoppers took advantage of deals from leading brands such as Sol de Janeiro, Apple, Dyson, and Ring, as well as from small businesses like TruSkin, ALOHA, Blueland, and Native Pet. In the U.S., customers saw more deals on small business products than ever before. Independent sellers, many of which are small and medium-sized businesses, sold over 200 million items during Prime Day.
Amazon also offered substantial discounts on its own devices and services, including Amazon Music Unlimited, Kindle Unlimited, Audible, and Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market grocery delivery. U.S. Prime members consolidated deliveries on millions of orders during the event, which is estimated to have saved about 10 million trips and reduced carbon emissions.
Rufus, Amazon’s AI-powered conversational shopping assistant, and Amazon Inspire, a new app feature offering product discovery through videos and images, enhanced the shopping experience for millions of customers. Prime members also enjoyed exclusive benefits such as:
