Southeastern Grocers Shares Holiday Hope, Donates Thanksgiving Meals to 7,000 Families in Need
Southeastern Grocers, LLC (SEG), the parent company of Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie, is embracing the holiday spirit by distributing Thanksgiving turkeys and full meal kits to more than 7,000 individuals and families experiencing food insecurity across Florida. The initiative is supported by the SEG Gives Foundation and carried out in partnership with local food banks and community organizations.
According to Feeding America®, over 3.2 million Floridians, including 800,000 children, are currently facing hunger. To help ease that burden during the holiday season, SEG is teaming up with several community partners to provide families with holiday meals complete with turkeys and traditional sides. Key partners include Feeding Northeast Florida, Feeding South Florida, Feeding Tampa Bay, Grace Community Food Pantry, the USO, Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, and many others across the state.
SEG President and CEO Anthony Hucker emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting its communities:
“The holidays should be a time of warmth and connection, yet many families face uncertainty about putting meals on the table. As a neighborhood grocer, we have a responsibility to uplift our communities and offer hope. By sharing meals and kindness, we remind our neighbors they are not alone.”
Community Giving Continues Through December
To extend its impact, SEG is continuing its Gratitude Month donations through December. Customers can contribute by donating $1, $5, or rounding up their purchase total at checkout to support local Feeding America partner food banks. Select Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie stores are also offering $10 and $15 pre-packed donation bags filled with nonperishable items.
Lauren Biedron, Senior Vice President of Corporate Partners at Feeding America, thanked SEG for its continued support, noting that this generosity helps ensure more families have access to nourishing meals during the holiday season.
