Coles Boosts Support for FightMND Ahead of Big Freeze 10
Coles is stepping up its commitment to FightMND for the upcoming Big Freeze 10, introducing new fundraising ventures through collaborations with Flybuys and major brands like Peters Ice Cream, Cadbury, and Solo.
For the first time, Coles customers have the opportunity to convert their Flybuys points into donations for FightMND during the Big Freeze 10 campaign, which kicked off yesterday and runs until Friday, June 21. Each donation of 1,000 points translates to a $5 contribution to the charity.
This initiative aligns with FightMND’s milestone tenth anniversary of the Big Freeze event in June and marks Coles’ seventh year of fundraising for the leading Motor Neurone Disease (MND) charity in Australia. Their partnership has already generated over $30 million towards MND research and care.
To commemorate the event, the special 10-year anniversary Big Freeze Beanie is available for purchase at Coles supermarkets and Coles Online for $25 until June 21. Additionally, these iconic Beanies will be introduced in over 280 Liquorland, First Choice Liquor Market, and Vintage Cellars stores across Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, and Western Australia.
In a new move for the campaign, Coles will sell kids’ Beanies for $20 in Victoria and Tasmania, while Big Freeze Socks will be stocked in Queensland, New South Wales, and Tasmania. All proceeds from the sales of Big Freeze 10 Beanies and Socks will be directed to FightMND to support cutting-edge MND research and care initiatives for Australians living with MND.
The Big Freeze Beanies have become a symbol of solidarity for those affected by the disease, including FightMND co-founder and AFL legend Neale Daniher AO, who was diagnosed with MND in 2013.
Apart from purchasing Beanies, customers can contribute to FightMND by buying Coles brand Fresh Australian Pork products. For every pack sold at Coles supermarkets and Coles Online, 10 cents will be donated to the cause. Additionally, there will be a double donation of 20 cents on selected Coles brand pork products.
Coles Chief Commercial Officer Anna Croft emphasized the significance of the Big Freeze campaign as Coles’ primary community fundraiser each year, highlighting its importance in supporting the health of Australians.
Peters Ice Cream, Cadbury, Solo, and Asahi Beverages are among the major brands supporting the cause this year. Peters Ice Cream has launched an exclusive Big Freeze 10 Peters Icy Pole Blue Lemonade 8-pack, with $1 from each sale at Coles supermarkets or Coles Online donated to FightMND. Similarly, Coles and Mondelez will donate $1 for every specially marked Cadbury Large Block, Milk Chocolate 360g produced.
Asahi Beverages will contribute 10 cents for every purchase of selected Solo or Pepsi Max 1.25L bottles or any Bubly Sparkling Water 8-pack cans sold at Coles supermarkets and Coles Online. Coles Liquor is also expanding its support for FightMND through various initiatives, including Beanie sales and donation opportunities across their stores nationwide.
