7-Eleven, Inc. Reaffirms Commitment to Building Stronger, Safer Communities

7-Eleven, Inc. has announced the return of its popular community outreach program, Operation Chill®, for the 29th consecutive summer, continuing its mission to foster positive police-youth interactions and strengthen neighborhood connections. This initiative is a cornerstone of the company’s commitment to building thriving, safer communities.

We understand that every day, both in our stores and the neighborhoods we serve, positive connections are made. These connections are fundamental in creating stronger, safer communities,” said Marissa Jarratt, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing & Sustainability Officer at 7-Eleven, Inc. “We are proud to deepen our relationships with law enforcement and get to know our neighbors better through nearly three decades of Operation Chill.

Since its inception in 1995, Operation Chill has enabled law enforcement officers to build positive relationships by awarding Slurpee® drink coupons to children they observe performing good deeds or displaying positive behavior. This year, 7-Eleven, Inc. will distribute over 550,000 coupons to more than 1,300 participating U.S. law enforcement agencies to reward children in their local communities. The program aims to reduce crime and enhance relationships between police and young people, with over 24 million coupons distributed throughout its history.

Kids can be rewarded for various acts, such as wearing a helmet while biking, picking up litter, helping a neighbor, or holding a door open. The reward is a free small Slurpee drink and recognition for being a good citizen. These coupons can be redeemed at any participating U.S. 7-Eleven®, Speedway®, or Stripes® store, where kids can try new Slurpee flavors like the recently added Peach Candy Lemonade.

Building relationships with the community is essential to our role as law enforcement officers, and a free Slurpee drink coupon is an easy, effective way for our officers to connect with kids,” said Miguel A. Rodriguez Jr., Chief of Police for the Laredo Police Department. “We are thankful for the chance to participate in and support this excellent program. Initiatives like Operation Chill are vital in helping us build stronger, safer communities one Slurpee drink at a time.

We appreciate 7-Eleven Inc.’s ongoing support of the law enforcement community and investment in initiatives that facilitate positive relationships with the communities we serve,” said Cpl. Alan Jones, Prince George’s County Police Department. “Together, we are creating safer, more caring neighborhoods.
