American Seafoods Unveils Community Partnership Program to Support Western Alaskan Communities

American Seafoods Group (“American Seafoods” or “the Company”), a leading global provider of sustainable proteins and one of the largest at-sea processors of wild Alaska pollock and wild Pacific hake, is excited to announce the launch of its newly rebranded Community Partnership Program. Previously known as the Western Alaska Community Grant Program, this initiative aims to support organizations and groups in Western Alaska with donations for projects that tackle food security and other critical social needs.

The relaunch reflects American Seafoods’ enduring commitment to Western Alaskan communities. As part of the revamped program, the Company is increasing its annual donation total from $90,000 to $150,000, with $75,000 awarded every six months. Since its inception in 1997, American Seafoods has contributed over $2 million to various Alaskan organizations and programs.

“Since 1997, American Seafoods has been dedicated to supporting Alaskan communities, where we benefit from the world’s cleanest fisheries,” said Einar Gustafsson, CEO of American Seafoods. “Our Alaskan communities and crew members are integral to our operations, and this program’s name change, enhanced focus, and increased funding underscore our ongoing commitment to giving back. We look forward to continuing our support as we sustainably harvest wild Alaska pollock.”

Barbara Nunn, Food Bank Coordinator at the Bristol Bay Native Association Food Bank, a previous recipient of funds, commented, “We are grateful for American Seafoods’ support over the years through their Community Partnership Program. As one of our largest contributors, they have helped us provide essential nourishment to many in the Bristol Bay Region.”

Susan Smith, Executive Director of the Brother Francis Shelter, another past beneficiary, added, “American Seafoods is a remarkable company, supporting the Brother Francis Shelter Kodiak and those in need in our community. Their donations have significantly impacted our ability to provide refuge, dignity, and care to Kodiak’s homeless.”

Applications for the Community Partnership Program are being accepted from regions including Kodiak Island, Aleutian and Pribilof Islands/Western Alaska Peninsula, Bristol Bay, Lower Kuskokwim, Lower Yukon, Norton Sound, and communities to the north. The deadline for submission is September 16, 2024, with most grants ranging from $1,000 to $7,500.
