Croissant Unveils Innovative ‘Shop Now, Sell Later’ Resale Experience for iPhone

Today, Croissant, a pioneering fintech tool offering Guaranteed Buybacks™ for apparel and accessories, announces the official launch of its consumer app for iOS, marking the debut of the industry’s first “shop now, sell later” resale experience. Building on the success of its existing shopping tools, Croissant’s app provides guaranteed resale prices while users browse over 100 top brands and retailers through a newly launched Safari mobile extension. Additionally, the app introduces an industry-first Gmail sync feature, allowing customers to effortlessly sell past purchases.

With Croissant’s app, users can view the aggregated resale value of their eligible items in a single, streamlined interface and sell items with just a few taps—no photos or resale listings needed. Users also benefit from free shipping and immediate payout information upon receipt of their goods. Croissant then uses its technology to list items for resale within the secondhand market.

The “shop now, sell later” model offers less risk and greater financial empowerment compared to the popular “buy now, pay later” approach. Importantly, Croissant’s app and shopping tools are entirely free for customers.

“Resale can be rewarding, but reselling can be a lot of work with uncertain outcomes. Our research shows that 75% of U.S. customers want a simpler, more transparent way to engage in the resale market,” said Croissant CEO and Co-Founder John Howard. “Croissant’s iOS app integrates Guaranteed Buybacks™ from purchase to payout, revolutionizing the shopping and resale experience.”

The app significantly enhances accessibility to resale by combining guaranteed, AI-generated resale prices with a streamlined selling process. With 26,000 users to date, Croissant anticipates the app will boost momentum by over 10 times.

Retailers are also seeing benefits from Croissant’s services. Since its launch in July 2023, affiliate and direct partners like Neiman Marcus, Shopbop, and HATCH have reported a 50% increase in average order value (AOV), with customers spending an average of $2,500 annually through Croissant.

“There’s over $2 trillion in resellable inventory globally, representing a market as large as cryptocurrency. Our mission is to help people unlock this asset class without incurring consumer debt,” Howard added. “The launch of our iOS app is a significant step in leveraging this opportunity to benefit customers, retailers, and the resale ecosystem.”
