- Circularity Commitment: Trex sourced over 320 million pounds of waste polyethylene (PE) film in 2023, actively exploring innovative recycling solutions for more challenging materials. Over its lifetime, Trex has recycled more than 5 billion pounds of waste PE film, solidifying its position as a leading recycler of PE film in North America.
- Product Innovation: Trex continues to innovate with products designed for longevity, durability, and aesthetic appeal. Trex decking, with warranties ranging from 25 to 50 years, outlasts traditional wood decking, significantly reducing environmental impact.
- Safety and Employee Engagement: Trex achieved a 29% reduction in its lost-time incident rate in 2023, well below industry averages, reflecting robust safety training and awareness initiatives. The company also enhanced its employee value proposition with expanded training opportunities, resulting in improved survey results and reduced turnover.
- Manufacturing Efficiency: Trex strives for operational efficiency by recycling nearly 100% of production scrap and piloting the recovery of construction and demolition waste, maximizing raw material use.
- Community Engagement: The NexTrex® community recycling programs engaged over 2,500 schools and civic organizations in 2023, diverting 1.8 million pounds of plastic film from landfills and promoting recycling awareness.
- Recognition: Trex received the Lowe’s Sustainability Vendor Partner of the Year award in 2023 and was recognized in Newsweek’s America’s Most Responsible Companies and Investor’s Business Daily’s 100 Best ESG Companies lists.
