My pathway to Walgreens traces back to a defining moment in my childhood—a serendipitous encounter at our neighborhood pharmacy that ignited a lifelong passion for healthcare. Accompanying my mother on a routine visit to Walgreens as a young girl, little did I know that this visit would shape the trajectory of my future.
Standing in line at the pharmacy counter, my gaze fixated on a pharmacist engrossed in conversation with a patient. Witnessing the pharmacist’s ability to offer guidance and support, I felt a stirring within me—a sense of purpose and potential.
In that moment, a seed was planted—an aspiration to make a significant impact on people’s lives through healthcare. Inspired by what I had witnessed, I began to envision myself in a similar role, committed to serving others with compassion and expertise.
Fast forward 24 years, and I find myself immersed in an enriching career at Walgreens. Starting in 2000 as a pharmacist, I quickly ascended to the role of pharmacy manager, then transitioned to district pharmacy supervisor, and eventually assumed the position of healthcare supervisor. In this capacity, I oversee operations across 62 stores, providing support to four district managers in Northwest Houston and surrounding areas. My days are dynamic, involving tasks such as evaluating patient health outcomes, identifying areas for improvement, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards through regular store visits.
When not on-site, I lead meetings with pharmacy managers to celebrate achievements and strategize for enhancements. Additionally, I actively participate in regional and corporate-level gatherings to contribute to strategic planning efforts aimed at fulfilling our organization’s mission.
Driven by a desire to foster inclusivity and empower women leaders, I became involved with the Women of WBA (WoWBA) business resource group. Serving as vice chair of WoWBA-US, I am dedicated to promoting inclusion, celebrating diversity, and inspiring women within the organization to embrace their unique qualities and accomplishments. I firmly believe in the power of education and personal development, actively supporting the professional growth of team members.
As we observe Women’s Health Month and Mental Health Awareness Month in May, I am particularly passionate about encouraging women to prioritize their well-being. Through WoWBA-US initiatives such as panel discussions, meditation events, and virtual art exhibits, we advocate for regular check-ups, screenings, and healthy lifestyle choices to empower women to lead fulfilling lives.
Beyond my professional endeavors, spending quality time with my daughter brings me immense joy and rejuvenation. Our shared love for travel, arts, and music enriches our bond, with annual adventures and anticipated concerts serving as sources of inspiration and happiness. These experiences remind me of the importance of achieving harmony between personal and professional spheres, enabling me to approach leadership with renewed creativity and motivation.
